about

Floating Rocks is Dave Betamax's sophomore release on his [Smut+Bass] imprint. This record sees Dave taking a step out from the Ambient/Experimental realm which was prevalent on his first record (Dissolved) and placing it on the dance floor. With tracks like "Jealousy", "Shijian" and "Vudoo" leading off the album with a take on Garage and Dubstep without "selling out" to mid-range wobbles which have become popular in recent times. Instead, Dave lays out a groove for one to space out to. This record also sees Dave crafting some downtempo hip-hop style beats with "Abstract Elements" and "Ode To Dexter". Floating Rocks has so many different styles and genres yet always maintains a certain sound that is slowly being recognized from Dave Betamax productions. Deep, Dark, Spacious and Groovy, this record is for fans of artists like Pinch, Orbital, Aphex Twin, Burial, Kode9 and Martyn.

about

Some sounds would exist regardless of life, and despite isolation and sheer credibility, some artists continue to grow and ... more inspire, regardless of hype. Dave Betamax has been producing and DJing since '01, covering almost every genre that the bass spectrum has to offer, from IDM to Jungle. Betamax draws influence from Future Garage with hints of Techno, House, IDM, Jungle, Dub and Classical music. less
